Coloring History, Celebrating Culture.
Cultural Colors blends illustration, history, and creative expression to offer children fun and engaging way to learn at their own pace. This coloring book is designed to spark curiosity and foster confidence, and encourages meaningful conversations both at home and in the classroom.
What started as a single coloring book has since evolved into a broader vision: making Black history accessible and joyful for kids through art-based learning. Cultural Colors is the first in an expanding series of books and creative resources focused on culture, history, and self-expression.

We Can Work Together To Create a Better Future.
Meet Alexandria Sowell
Alexandria Sowell is the creator of Cultural Colors, a modern Black history coloring book designed to help children learn through creativity, culture, and connection.
Born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, Alexandria grew up surrounded by strong community ties, storytelling, and a deep appreciation for culture and history. That foundation shaped her desire to create learning tools that celebrate Black history and offer positive representation for children, especially those who do not often see themselves reflected in traditional educational materials. Cultural Colors was created from that belief.
What began as a single coloring book grew into a larger vision to make Black history accessible, joyful, and meaningful for kids through art based learning. Cultural Colors is the first in a growing collection of books and creative resources centered on culture, history, and self expression.

Why Cultural Colors Was Created
Alexandria noticed that many children are introduced to Black history in ways that feel distant, limited, or reserved for a single month out of the year. She wanted to create a resource that celebrates Black history year round while highlighting positive stories, role models, and achievements.
By combining illustration, history, and creative expression, Cultural Colors invites children to learn at their own pace while encouraging curiosity, conversation, and confidence both at home and in the classroom.
Each page is intentionally designed to be age appropriate, engaging and creative, rooted in culture and representation, and supportive of early learning and self expression.
Alexandria is building Cultural Colors as a community driven initiative. Through pop ups, school partnerships, and book donations, Cultural Colors works to place culturally relevant educational resources into the hands of children and families.
This work is grounded in the belief that access to creative and culturally rich learning tools can help children build pride, confidence, and a stronger sense of identity.
